EGDS - ECHO
The scientific goal of ECHO, a research program launched by the National Institutes of Health, is to understand the effects of a broad range of early environmental influences on child health and development. ECHO uses information from existing longitudinal research projects, including the Early Growth and Development Study, to see how the environment impacts child health and development. In total, over 50,000 children across the United States will participate in ECHO.
As part of this exciting initiative, EGDS-ECHO gets to continue to learn about child development and contribute to the growing body of research around environmental impacts on children. Our participation in ECHO will continue to build on emerging evidence about the relationship between heredity and the family environment - that is, nature and nurture - and how the two interact.
